People I like | Justine ShapiroPrecised notesGlobe Trekker/Lonely Planet travel anchor. Like Ian Wright, Shapiro is a bit loony. But where Wright is consistently nutty, Shapiro is sparsely nutty and consistently fascinating. Her in Trinidad was classic. Trinidadians have a mardi gras and Justine was 'whining' (sexual simulation) with all sorts of strangers and grinning and wobbling in her feathery, skimpy outfit (see purple floofy below).
I like that she lets her body be what it is, and can just let loose. I had to grin for hours after that one. She always manages to pick up the most peculiarly fascinating facts about where she is, and her choice of places in places - like when she was in England in Whitby, North Yorkshire, where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula - she met the walking tour guide under the whale bone arch, and went walking with a bunch of pock-marked gothic teenagers. Just look at the last sentence - mesmerizing.
See Pilot Guides for what she says about travelling.
